After two weeks off, the Burleigh Bears reserve grade side will return to action against the Helensvale Hornets this Sunday afternoon at Pizzey Park.

With a Round 8 bye followed by the entire Gold Coast competition going on break for representative footy last weekend, the Bears have not hit the field since May 5.

That day the Bears took on the Tugun Seahawks, with the Bears winning out 20-8 against their local rivals.

The Bears started the season slowly with two losses in their first three games but have recovered well with a draw and three consecutive wins in their last four games.

Those results have seen them move up the Doug Lipp Cup ladder into fourth spot, with the top three within striking distance if they can keep winning.

On Saturday they are back at Pizzey Park to take on the Hornets at 12.30pm. The Hornets currently sit in seventh place with two wins to their name.

The game will be proceeded by the Under 20s at 11am and will be followed by A Grade vs Currumbin at 2pm.
