The Burleigh Bears women’s team will return to action when they take on Souths Logan as part of the club’s annual Pink Day celebrations this Sunday afternoon at Pizzey Park.
Their Round 8 SEQW Division 1 clash will kick-off at 3pm, immediately following the Intrust Super Cup fixture.
With the bulk of the representative season now in the rear-view mirror, the Burleigh Bears can turn their attention to the remainder of the club competition.
The competition has been put on hold three times since Round 3, with the Bears also having an additional bye thrown in, meaning they have played just three games together since mid-April and not at all since a May 18 win over Brothers Ipswich.
Plenty of Bears have still been highly active, however. Nine Bears competed in last week’s National Women’s Championship, while three others competed in the QRL State A Grade Men’s and Women’s Carnival.
Millie Boyle and Tallisha Harden were particular standouts at the National Championships, while Sasha Mahuika made a name for herself at the State Carnival, crossing for four tries in two games.
With those representative carnivals now complete, the SEQW competition will not break again with just seven games left until semi-finals.
The Bears currently sit in third spot on the ladder, while Souths Logan are fifth. These sides last met in Round 1, where the Bears secured a tight 16-12 win.
