The Burleigh Bears Under 20s team will be looking to bounce back to form this Sunday morning when they travel to Owen Park to face the Southport Tigers.
With lots of player movement over the last few weeks, the Bears have dropped two of their last three games and currently sit in fourth spot on the competition ladder.
This weekend will be the competition’s halfway point, and against sixth placed Southport it is an opportunity for the Bears to hit back and steady themselves as they look towards the back end of the year.
Last week a number of their regulars were called upon to play Colts, including the competition’s leading try-scorer Latrell Howe, and they helped produced a stirring last minute 23-22 win.
While they have been forced to shuffle the team throughout the season leading to some disjoined performances at times, the Bears have still scored the most points in the Under 20s competition and have the talent to threaten should they stabilise in the second half of the year.
The Tigers meanwhile have struggled this year, losing their last seven games including a 60-12 thumping at the hands of Burleigh in their last meeting in Round 5.
Sunday’s Round 10 clash kicks off at 11am at Owen Park.
