The Burleigh Bears reserve grade side will look to continue their charge up the Doug Lipp Cup competition ladder when they host Southport Tigers this Saturday afternoon.
After losing two of their first three games, the Bears have gone unbeaten in their last six, with a draw and five straight wins elevating them to second place.
While they have been attacking well, their run up the ladder has been built on the best defensive record in the competition.
They have the longest active win streak in the competition and sit just one-point behind the first-placed Currumbin Eagles.
Burleigh can move into the lead if they can win again on Saturday, provided the Eagles lose to Runaway Bay on Sunday.
On the flip side, a Burleigh loss could see them drop as low as fourth should other results go against them.
This week, the Bears take on a Southport Tigers side who currently sit in sixth place but will be full of confidence on the back of a 58-0 win over Ormeau last weekend.
