Burleigh Bears hit the road to take on Ormeau this Saturday

Still undefeated at the top of the Rugby League Gold Coast A Grade competition, the Burleigh Bears hit the road to take on Ormeau this Saturday.

The Bears started the season with six straight wins, drew with Tugun in Round 7 and went on to win their next four.

Last week the Bears got the better of Southport in their top-of-the-table clash, running in six tries in their 34-10 win.

Brett Stratton crossed for a double, while Connor Toia took his season tally to seven with another four-pointer.

There is still plenty of football to be played with nine rounds still remaining before the finals, but the Bears are perfectly placed at the mid-way point and this Saturday travel to Ormeau to take on the seventh placed Shearers.

On paper it is a mis-match against an Ormeau side that has conjured just one win in the last three seasons, but coach Matt Foster will no doubt be looking for high standards from his men regardless of the opposition.

The Bears are the prized scalp at the moment and every team will bring their best in an attempt to be the first to knock off the front-runners.
