Bears V Redbacks and their fight for Second Place

On the back of a big win last weekend the Burleigh Bears Under 20s have their sights set on the Mudgeeraba Redbacks this Sunday.

Burleigh’s 50-28 win over the Runaway Bay Seagulls was important, as it moved them into third place on the competition ladder and within striking distance of the top two.

Josh Somerville and Larryon Tevita both crossed for hat-tricks while Zach McCormack scored a double in the nine tries to five victory.

Sunday’s clash with second-placed Mudgeeraba is important for multiple reasons, not least of all is the chance to move into second place.

Burleigh would move to equal points with a win over the Redbacks, but thanks to a superior for-and-against they would move into second.

The other point of importance is that the Bears have been unable to string consecutive wins together since back in Round 5 and 6.

They have traded wins and losses since and with finals just eight weeks away, the Bears will be looking to improve their consistency and start stringing wins together.
