The Burleigh Bears are back to full strength for this Saturday’s crucial SEQW Division 1 clash with the Tweed Heads Seagulls.
Five Burleigh players took part in State of Origin last Friday night, which made them unavailable in Round 9 and forced them to back up after 48 hours for last Sunday’s win over Toowoomba.
The Bears were some of the stars of the show on Friday, with Amber Pilley, Chelsea Lenarduzzi and Millie Boyle all earning a recognition in the Australian Jillaroos Merit Team.
Now with representative football officially over, the players can put their full focus back on the Bears as the finals approach.
With just four rounds left in the regular season, this Saturday’s battle is a crucial one for both teams with the finals race on a knife’s edge.
Burleigh is currently in third place, but a loss could see them slip out of the top four and down to fifth place such is the closeness of the competition.
The Bears have a bye in Round 14, so only have three games left to secure their place in the finals and compete for their fifth straight title.
Last time the Bears faced the Seagulls they suffered a 22-18 loss, but if the Bears can avenge that loss on Saturday it would almost certainly rule Tweed out of finals contention.
