Another chapter in the rivalry between the Burleigh Bears and Tugun Seahawks will be written at Boyd Street this Sunday afternoon.
Arguably the best rivalry in the Gold Coast A Grade competition, the Bears and Seahawks have a history of close and physical encounters.
They have met on two occasions already this year, with Burleigh winning 22-16 in Round 1 before recording a 16-16 draw in Round 7.
That draw was the only occasion all season that a team has taken any points away from the undefeated Bears and the Seahawks will be full of confidence that they can go one better this weekend.
Tugun will also be on the bounce-back after losing their last two games to Southport and Ormeau.
Burleigh will be well rested thanks to a Round 14 bye and the entire competition taking a break last weekend. It means there will have been a three week break between their last game and Sunday’s clash.
That last game was a 24-16 win over Ormeau, with Tyronne Roberts-Davis and Matt Egan both scoring doubles.
The Bears are seven points clear at the top of the ladder and can take another step towards the minor premiership with victory on Sunday.
