The Burleigh Bears A Grade side will look to bounce back from their first loss of the season when they host defending premiers Runaway Bay on Saturday afternoon.
After 11 wins and a draw in their first 12 games, the Bears’ unbeaten streak finally came to an end, 18-16 at the hands of rivals Tugun.
While not the desired result on the day, it does little damage to the Bears in the bigger picture as they still lead the competition by five points and remain the clear competition favourites with six rounds remaining.
Bears coach Matt Foster will be looking for a response this Saturday when the Bears host the defending champions at Pizzey Park.
Bay picked up an emphatic 40-4 win over Ormeau in their last outing and need to keep winning in order to stay in the hunt for a top three finish.
Burleigh have faced Bay twice this year for two wins. 32-4 in Round 2 and 32-20 in Round 10.
