Gold Coast A Grade Bears will be Hunting for Tigers this Sunday

It will be a preview of what is to come in the Gold Coast A Grade semi-finals when the Burleigh Bears travel to Southport to take on the Tigers this Sunday afternoon.

Burleigh have led the competition all season, with Southport the team that has managed to keep pace the best in second and their meeting on Sunday likely won’t be their last with finals just three weeks away.

A big win over Bilambil last weekend wrapped up the minor premiership, with the Bears five-points clear at the top of the ladder with a bye in hand.

Southport, meanwhile, need just one win from their last three games to wrap up second place and a home major semi-final in week one.

Both sides are in top form, with Burleigh’s 48-0 win over Bilambil their 14th of the year while Southport put Ormeau to the sword, 72-6, to notch their fifth win in succession.

The Tigers haven’t tasted defeat since going down to Bears 34-10 back in Round 12 and will be hungry to claim a prized scalp ahead of the finals.

All three grades will compete at Owen Park, with the Under 20s at 11am and reserve grade at 12.30pm. The A Grade fixture will be live-streamed from 2pm via the Rugby League Gold Coast Facebook page.
