Burleigh’s minor premiership hopes are on the line when they take on Southport in their reserve grade clash this Sunday afternoon.
After winning nine games in a row between Round 5 and 16, the Bears have suffered consecutive losses and slipped to second place on the ladder with Tugun sneaking into first.
The Seahawks have the bye this weekend, meaning another Bears loss would likely see them drop to third and trail the ladder-leaders by four points with just two regular season games left to play.
Last week they went down 20-16 to a Bilambil team with their season on the line, and they face a similar scenario this week when they travel to Owen Park to take on a desperate Southport.
Currently leading a three-way race for the fifth and final spot in the finals, the Tigers are just two-points ahead of Bilambil and three points ahead of Runaway Bay.
With another tough game against Tugun to come next week, a Southport loss could spell the end of their season.
