Burleigh’s local reserve grade and Under 20s sides will both compete in qualifying finals at Owen Park this weekend after finishing second and third in their respective competitions.
The Bears finished inside the top three in all three grades of the local Rugby League Gold Coast competitions with finals beginning this weekend.
A Grade has the weekend off thanks to finishing as runaway minor premiers, while reserve grade and Under 20s play for a chance to advance to grand final qualifiers this weekend.
The reserve grade Bears picked up 13 wins and a draw in their 18 games this season to qualify second. They take on third placed Currumbin at 12.30pm this Sunday at Owen Park with the winner to take on minor premiers Tugun next week.
With wins in their last three games, the Bears come into the game in good form, but will be out for revenge since they lost 34-0 last time they faced Currumbin in Round 17.
The Under 20s finished in third place and face Mudgeeraba at 11am. It is a rematch from just last week where the Redbacks posted a 42-10 win over the Bears.
By finishing as minor premiers, Burleigh’s A Grade side has earned the right to host all grand final qualifiers on the weekend of September 7-8.
If the reserve grade and Under 20s can get up this weekend it would set up a huge day at Pizzey Park where all three grades would be gunning for a grand final berth on the same day.
