Pizzey Park will host the Rugby League Gold Coast qualifying finals this Sunday with A Grade facing Currumbin for a place in the grand final.
It will be the first outing for the Bears since August 18, after a bye in the last week of the regular season and another week off thanks to finishing as minor premiers.
The Bears enjoyed an incredible regular season, dropping just one game and finishing 11-points clear at the top of the competition ladder with a for-and-against of +364.
They’ll deservedly start favourites on Sunday but face a formidable challenge in the form of a confident Currumbin Eagles.
Led by former NRL star Dan Mortimer, the Eagles impressed in their 34-16 semi-final win over Southport and have pushed the Bears to the limit on multiple occasions this season.
A win would see the Bears earn another week off and advance directly to the Rugby League Gold Coast grand final, while a loss would see them host a preliminary final against either Southport or Tugun next weekend.
