RLGC Semi Finals Week 2

Burleigh’s reserve grade side will fight to avoid elimination while the Under 20s battle for a place in the grand final as the local semi-finals continue this weekend.

Reserve grade suffered a 34-12 defeat at the hands of Currumbin last weekend and will now face Mudgeeraba Redbacks at Owen Park on Saturday with their season on the line.

The Bears faced Mudgeeraba just two weeks ago in the final round of the regular season, picking up a 22-18 win away from home.

That was the second time Burleigh had beaten Mudgeeraba in 2019 after a 34-12 win in Round 14.

Saturday’s final is elimination, with the winner advancing to the preliminary final next week.

The Under 20s will take the field on Sunday in a grand final qualifier thanks to a 30-24 win over Mudgeeraba last weekend.

It sets up a battle with the Currumbin Eagles, who finished 10-points clear at the top of the competition ladder.

Burleigh will be the underdogs, having lost to Currumbin on three occasions already this season.

A win would see the Bears advance to the grand final, while a loss would see them face either Mudgeeraba or Runaway Bay in the preliminary final next week.
